Grrrargh.
Hello. It is November now. Let's see, let's see… I'd better just rush at this without thinking, otherwise I won't post at all.
There was a fannish meet-up last month, and I had lunch with
lazlet,
lobelia321,
eyebrowofdoom,
mskatej and
viva_gloria. It was wonderful fun! I continue to be amazed by how easy it is to rabbit on and on for hours with people you've never met in person (and in some cases not even online) all because of this thing called fandom, that I stumbled upon back at the arse-end of 2001. *becomes sentimental* *then briefly paranoid in case everyone secretly thought I was boring or weird, or both* *then gets over self*
Anyway. This led to, or coincided with, a quiet upsurge in fannish activity, which so far has simply meant I have more fic to choose from when I flick the switch on my Kindle as the train pulls out of Ipswich station of a morning. (That was a long sentence.) I do so love hoarding stuff on my Kindle. I'm like a squirrel who's into fanfic. It's mostly Avengers-and-related-fandoms, because that is the particular rabbit-hole I appear to have fallen down this time. It seems to be fun there.
I have also gone into my winter hibernation mode, which quite often means knitting under a blanket in front of the TV. I can't move from under the blanket because I haven't allowed myself to switch the heating on (this is an exaggeration. It's not that cold here yet). I have discovered one of the uses of Tumblr is to show you gifsets from the-shows-fandom-is-watching, in order to lure you in. So, I have tried out several of the shows-fandom-is-watching, and what I actually appear to be watching right now is 30 Rock, because I like to be consistently at least seven years behind the rest of the human race. Look. I'm now so with it that I'll be able to watch both Thor 2 and the new X-Men film in the cinema and mostly know who everyone is and what's going on. To expect more than this would be foolhardy.
Erm, everything else in my life is boring. Sometimes I try to draw people on the train without them noticing, and sometimes I write poems about people I see on the platform at Diss station. I write quite a lot about Diss. It's a pleasing word. But I haven't done anything on the train for the last week except listen to annoying people talk about fitted sheets and how Chris can't update the web page (if he can't do it then he should be able to do it, but everyone knows he can't do it so there's no point), and how they just don't quite feel safe in Nottingham, or Amsterdam, or even Galway. Work has been kind of full-on lately, and it's draining. Also, I am lazy.
I was going to talk about a fic that I've written 5,000 words of but can't bring myself to finish because I fear it is full of fail. GRAARRGH. But let's not do that, after all.
Goodbye.
