Stuff inna list!

As follows:

1. I really loved last night's Doctor Who. What can I say -- I've got a thing about time travel, a thing about Edwardians, a thing about boys' public schools, and a thing about WWI. I'd read the book it was based on, which I really enjoyed and OMG A GOOD ADAPTATION OF SOMETHING FOR ONCE THANK YOU PAUL CORNELL! Ahem. I should probably reserve my judgement for next week, but whatever.

Oh, I dunno, obviously, there's lots of time travel in Doctor Who and yay for that! It's Doctor Who, innit? But there was something different about this for me. I think it had something to do with Martha already having been there for some months when we join her -- there's this sense of her being trapped out of her own time and place which for some reason just always gets me. I find it sort of haunting. It's obviously something to do with me, because I keep writing these stories where I trap people in the wrong time (usually comedians, usually Edwardian -- well don't look at me, I don't control my brain! Look, I went through this phase when I was about eight where I decided I was going to be an Edwardian, and and I wore a nightdress to birthdays parties and -- ok, I'll save this for the professionals). And there was a subtlety about everything -- the sound, the costume, the acting, the sets... that added to that effect. It seemed to have a completely different feel from, say, um... you know, the Shakespeare one, whatever it was called. Which was lots of fun, but I preferred this. Anyway, yes. Loved Martha here -- on her bike, going to visit the TARDIS, and when she's sitting outside the pub with Jenny. Oh, poor Martha!

I also thought Jessica Stevenson was completely great, and I wish she could stay on and be a companion. And the scarecrows were interesting -- I'm not sure how scary they actually were, but there was something of classic Who about them. All in all, the whole thing has rather stayed in my mind.

That was a bit rambly, sorry. I'm feeling a bit strange and slightly unwell.

2. I had a dream in which I was on a beach in Kent, and Ewan McGregor was a dashing, tricksy hanglider criminal, but then Simon Pegg swooped in in a helicopter and they had an exciting aerial dogfight, and Simon Pegg won, and arrested him with a plastic gun inscribed with the words 'Art Attack Academy II', and then it was all jokes, handcuffs and kissing.

3. I have been punished for spending money by dropping my monthly buss pass thingy in a shop somewhere. I'd just put £40 on it. This has made me unhappy. :(

4. There has been some interesting stuff on Making Light recently about this whole FanLib nonsense, and about fanfiction and legality. I should trot on over and have a look if that's your bag.

5. I have given up writing in order to spend more time attempting to remove limescale from my bathtub.

6. Behind with comments again. Sorry sorry sorry times a million, as per usual.
