um, ok, words. The word I was left with was "otherness" and I noticed someone else mentioned that as well. You have really given a sense of that here...in fact my own personal otherness is intruding so much that I can't quite put it into words.

Orlando doesn't say no and he doesn't say yes.

His own voice sounds croaky to him, small and weird, and the words are crisp and woolly in his mouth at the same time. They're like an apple somebody sliced and left on a plate.
Well you're absolutely brilliant. This analogy is so strange yet true, out-of-left-field but dead on.
