Recs

Just a few things I've enjoyed recently.

Mark Haddon (author of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time') in the Observer, on writing for children and adults.

Fic:

Dom and Billy and the Trainwreck of Angst by [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana

Cee's ...and a happy home and its companion piece, where, when you go there (Viggo, Orlando, OFC)

I'm sure everyone with an interest in that sort of thing will be reading it already, but [livejournal.com profile] shaenie's The Only Way Out is Through [WIP, previous parts linked from part 10] is classic dizzily addictive angst-smut delight of the first order.

The perfect movieverse Starsky/Hutch -- Love American Style by [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida

Big Rock Candy Mountain: Five things that never happened to Andrew Wells by Basingstoke

Not fic, but I always find myself wanting to mention [livejournal.com profile] ineke's posts, because they're so often wonderful and entertaining and fascinating. So I'm just reccing the whole journal.

I haven't read his book, but that article was so fascinating I think I must!

Not at work today, no. I work part time (a subject of much current ansgt and consternation) -- back on Thursday.

Enjoy your day off! :)

hint - his book is currently half-price in borders. :)

all my stuff is p/t, hence a Proper Day Off is a fairly rare thing, and even then (as today) peeps keep ringing me up. but p/t is what i prefer, eggs and baskets and all that. so why are you angsting, shel?

might take the laptop into the garden. it's sunny here!

n.x :)

so why are you angsting, shel?

Well, it's kind of a dead-end job really - not secure, doesn't bring in enough money, its only real advantage is that it's incredibly easy. So I'm angsting about the fact that I really ought to get off my arse and sort my life out while I've still got time, but it's easier to sit around angsting about it. Heh.

it's always easier to sit around and angst about doing something as opposed to actually doing it! ;)

you have plenty o'time to make changes, shel.

Yeah, funny that... :)

Nah, you're right, I'm just having one of those days I think. We needs some of your sunshine! It's miserable and grey here.

sun's gone in now. who nicked it?
