In a valiant attempt to destroy any last lingering shreds of popularity that I might actually possess, I have been writing poetry. Even better, fannish poetry! Here's a loathsome little Lotrips dirge which has been languishing on my hard drive these past several centuries. I decided to finish it because I hate you all.

Title: Drinking in LA
Author: Me
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: Dom/Elijah
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Complete rubbish
Warnings: Complete rubbish

... )

Now, if that hasn't actually killed you, I shall continue. Over the past year, I have been working my way very slowly through Stephen Fry's The Ode Less Travelled, which is a lovely guide to proper poetry what scans and shit. This is my very, very poor attempt at a sestina. It is, as I may have mentioned, very poor, but it is a sestina. This may not really be reason enough to inflict it upon you, but I don't actually care.

Title: Jackie Tyler's Sestina
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing: None
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Warnings: It's as embarrassing as you're afraid it will be.

... )

Um. I do realise that it's not generally considered a good idea to post one's work along with all sorts of protestations about how terrible it is, but... there we are.

In the face of overwhelming demand from one person, I find myself reposting this small piece of nonsense I typed into [livejournal.com profile] sophrosyne31's journal when she complained of having acquired a life. The fact that this got more attention than things wot I slaved over for hours on end and had beta'd by twenty-eight top scholars, besides being Most Amusing, just goes to show that Lotrips people are still in a class of their own. :)

Oh, so this is novel: I get to post a fic without having to do any of the hard work of writing it. I mean, no, I did write it! I didn't steal it or anything. It's just it was such a long time ago it kind of feels like I didn't. In fact, it's been such a long time since I posted anything, fic-wise, I almost can't remember how to do it.

So yes, anyway, this was written for the 2004 Lotripping zine, conceived and organised by [livejournal.com profile] angstslashhope, a project in which I'm very pleased to have had the chance to participate. Cheers to Hope also for the beta, and to [livejournal.com profile] vissy, who I believe did some last minute punching-into-shape. :) Thanks, guys.

Title: Lodestone

Pairing: Dominic Monaghan/Orlando Bloom
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Everything about Orlando, thinks Dom, is impossible and unfair.
Disclaimer: This story is entirely fictional, written for fun, not for profit. No disrespect is intended.

Frankly, I don't think you can ever rec something too much, so here I am reccing Recall by [livejournal.com profile] sophrosyne31. Very absorbing, fascinating Lotrips AU, not to mention sexier than sex on sexy toast. I'd recommend it even if you don't read Lotrips, actually.

I had the best idea for my Yuletide story last night. I lay awake for hours thinking it through and fizzing with delight at how wonderful it was going to be and how clever I am, although I couldn't be bothered to put the light on and write any of it down. When I woke up, of course, it turned out to be a fairly mediocre idea after all, which was rather disappointing. But I should be able to drag some sort of fic out of it, with luck and a good kick up the arse.

Here's a disturbing thought I had the other night: Rupert Bear slash. Anyone? No? Ok.

So [livejournal.com profile] trianne had the cool idea of holding the Slasholympics, which you can find in this post and this post. And I entered Orlando in the archery. It's stupid and it's short. And reposting it here is undoubtedly the very height of folly. But it does involve some actual real words, strung together by me, and my ego wishes to celebrate that fact, thank you very much. So there.

Plus, I won a wreath for it and everything.

I was three quarters of an hour late home from work today. Stupid bloody boybands, I hate'em.

Something [livejournal.com profile] azrhiaz said about fandom cliches caught my interest today. Like, the thing about Orli being catlike, and chocolate-eyed, and tasting of cinnamon?

Yeah, so I thought about writing a fic where Orli wakes up one day and finds all those things are true... )

Just a few things I've enjoyed recently.

Mark Haddon (author of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time') in the Observer, on writing for children and adults.

Fic:

Dom and Billy and the Trainwreck of Angst by [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana

Cee's ...and a happy home and its companion piece, where, when you go there (Viggo, Orlando, OFC)

I'm sure everyone with an interest in that sort of thing will be reading it already, but [livejournal.com profile] shaenie's The Only Way Out is Through [WIP, previous parts linked from part 10] is classic dizzily addictive angst-smut delight of the first order.

The perfect movieverse Starsky/Hutch -- Love American Style by [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida

Big Rock Candy Mountain: Five things that never happened to Andrew Wells by Basingstoke

***

Not fic, but I always find myself wanting to mention [livejournal.com profile] ineke's posts, because they're so often wonderful and entertaining and fascinating. So I'm just reccing the whole journal.

Yes, you heard it here first. Exactly what happened with Dom and Elijah the night of the Hidalgo premiere! Everything explained! The horses! The bruises! The bats!*

*except not really cos of how I made it up.

Otherwise known as the stupidest thing I've written since lunchtime.

omg, my slashy valentine fic was by [livejournal.com profile] shaenie! I would never have guessed, but it's wonderful. Read Half-Four, like now, if you haven't already.

A handful of other faves include Creature Comforts by [livejournal.com profile] mcee, Sugar Coated by [livejournal.com profile] inbetweens, and Starts With a Soccer Game and Ten Simple Things You Ask to Make a Young Boy Sigh, both by [livejournal.com profile] sparcck. Although they're not the only good things to be found there, not by a long shot.

Anyway, this be mine. Viggo/Elijah smut for [livejournal.com profile] ainigma. Not exactly known for my smut, so I'm enormously pleased she didn't hate it. :)
