oh em gee I found a site full of sweeties! Thing is, I don't actually like sweets all that much. They make my mouth hurt. Still, excited for nostalgia reasons. I particularly recommend the 'Boiled Sweets' section, it is most excellent. And they've got chocolate 'cigarettes'! Or 'sticks' as they're now called. Sticks... wrapped in paper... in cigarette packets. Yeah.

Haha, my old boss J rang me up to beg me to come back and work for them, implying that they'd match the package the new people had offered me. Um, yeah, TOO LATE BITCH! Ha. Then I got a letter from my old studio manager S, apologising for J's behaviour and assuring me that my job will be open for me to take back until ooh, approximately the end of time. I'll just be over here enjoying my in-demand-ness until I actually have to start the new job and inevitably fall flat on my face. :)

Dyed my hair again. Weather is mucho crap. That is all.

EAT: I just have to edit to include a link to this other fab site, to which I was directed by [livejournal.com profile] rochefort - Nice Cup of Tea and a Sit Down. Great biscuit section.

ETA: AHAHA, EAT?? Hellooo, calling Mr Freud...

What a brilliant site! They've even got a bit about Chelsea Whoppers, my favourite sweeties of all time, as well as other sadly departed stuff like Aztec Bars. I've still to explore the boiled sweets section, but look forward to it. You could do worse than recommend this on some HP list as a source of alternative suggestions for Dumbledore's password.

If you liked that site, you might like this:

It's got a bit big and sprawly from the days when it used to just talk about biscuits, but the Biscuit of the Week bit is best, with absolutely serious discussions of the merits and failings of HobNobs, Jammy Dodgers, Wagon Wheels et al.

Oh and isn't it nice when you're suddenly discovered to have been indispensable and taken for granted by the bastards who took you for granted. I bwahaha on your behalf.

Funnily enough, I only found it because I was rambling on about sweets in a reply to a post on [livejournal.com profile] hp_britglish, and couldn't remember what flying saucers were made out of. So I Googled it and came up with this site. Apparently the flying saucer bit of the flying saucer is wafer. I thought it was polystyrene.

But yes - fantastic source of Dumbledore passwords! Sherbert lemons and their ilk are well-represented, of course.

Oh, and that biscuit site is bloody fantastic, thank you!! I can't believe it's actually called "nice cup of tea and a sit down". Bliss!!

Great site - they taste tea and biscuits for a living? Can I get this job?

Funny I never knew what boiled sweets were, they're mentioned in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. Now I know...they're hard candies! I need to explore further...

It's always an ego boost to be in demand!

Hee - it occurs to me that 'boiled sweets' sound rather disgusting if you don't know what they are.

[identity profile] shirecreature.livejournal.com 2004-09-30 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well "hard candies" doesn't sound too appetizing either. *G*

Now my question is are 'sweets' and 'candy' the same thing? Because 'candy' has it's own section.
*boggles*
More importantly, can I get some coconut mushrooms?!?!?!?!?!

We never say candy when we mean sweets - I suspect the candy section on the site is devoted to the sort of stuff that sticks of rock are made out of. And 'candy canes' and stuff.
