Yes, I've been spending even more time with the extended DVD today, hoorah! I could watch the Weta stuff for hours on end. I've always liked sets and models and miniatures. I love how everyone has all this wealth of information about everything, and all the little details... I love how on the commentary, John Howe starts to go into this incredible depth about weaponry and swords and how you can't hang a sword on your back because you'd never be able to get it back in the sheath, even if you could get it out in the first place, and it just goes on and on and on... And meanwhile poor old Boromir's doing his death scene in the background.

And I love the tiny, tiny details of things, like the runes on the pillars in Moria... and the hand-tied leaves on the Mallorn trees, and the man sitting there putting chain-mail together, link by link. All that. I'd love to have been involved in it. When I was at college I had a go at that sort of thing - set design and animation and blue-screen stuff. Unfortunately I turned out to be irredeemably bad at it, so I doubt they'd have wanted me at Weta. I could maybe have done some chain-mail linking though...

Accidentally locked myself out of the house the other day (away from my computer - ahhhh!), so I went to do some work in the library. Started writing a story about Anglo Saxon metalworking techniques, for some reason. Although not just metalworking techniques, obviously - that would be very dull. So, Anglo Saxon metalworking techniques, burial rituals, and hot sex. Except probably not hot sex, actually. Lukewarm sex? Maybe just some Anglo Saxons gazing meaningfully at each other. I dunno, I haven't got that far yet.

Other things of the day include:
No eggs=no pancakes.
Jennifer Lopez - Wouldn't she make an absolutely perfect Uruk Hai?
Mood:: late
Music:: will you stop asking me that?

Written for the [livejournal.com profile] contrelamontre 'multiple tenses' challenge. Had to be at least two scenes in at least two different tenses. No, I didn't try future. What do you think I am, some kind of fool? :)
