... for just losing me all my tabs, history and extensions, for no apparent reason. That's really great. Ta.

Regular readers of this journal may remember the way I like to abuse tab mix plus and session saver, and the vast quantities of tabs I tend to leave open. Take this as a lesson, kids. Use bookmarks like normal people.

It's not unusual for me to have more than 50, but I'd been on a tab-closing spree, so it probably wasn't that many. Serves me right, really...

That happens to me a lot. Also, if you have a separate window open, maybe one with just one tab on it, sometimes that is the only one that saves. Grrrh.

I do love the whole tab thing, though.

Oh, isn't that the worst!

I have identified the culprit as my new Queer as Folk DVDs, which crashed my laptop twice in quick succession. Won't be watching that on here again...

This won't help you now, but Session Saver blows goats. You would do much better to get Tab Mix Plus (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1122/) and use its built-in session manager and crash recovery functions. I've never lost any tabs to a crash since I switched. Sorry, sweetie!

Ah, see, that was silly of me, because I already had tab mix plus, but I'd installed session saver first, so I just carried on using it. Oh well, that'll learn me.

I don't use bookmarks either. I'm aware that my link management strategy lacks a certain something; I also rarely have less than a dozen tabs open, and more usually 20+, and don't use any tab management extensions. And yes, when it all crashes it's not a pretty sight. You have my sympathy.

I very nearly just posted something about this in this Metafilter thread about haording behaviour, but if I post *anything* there my brother will see it and mock. I think the hoarding thing will get its own post in my journal shortly.

Ah, so it's not just me! Oh dear, I'm such a terrible hoarder, and my browser is just like my life - a huge untidy mess. Sigh...

I knew it! I knew why I distrusted those buggers! Because I kept losing them and wondering what secrets other people had! Ack, you lost 2,574 tabs!!

Call it decluttering and set it free, hon. Life is trying to tell you something.

Don't laugh! It worked 99% of the time!

Call it decluttering and set it free, hon. Life is trying to tell you something.

That may well be true. I was probably never going to read those 900 fics anyway. not that that's stopped me from scrabbling round after some the more recent ones whose titles I could still remember...

*pets you*

Tab Mix doesn't do sessions properly (I'm on a Mac) and I have been diligent about naming and backing up every single night. So I'll be careful!
