Sigh

Sunday in stages:

1. Sunday. That's a good day to get things done, right?
2. First I must spend lots of time on eBay, bidding on a Willo the Wisp DVD. WHAT THE HELL?
3. Scrabulous.
4. Refresh Friends page, it's been three minutes, SOMETHING MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED!
5. Please help me. I need to have the Internet taken away from me, before I look up from the screen and find 20 years have passed without me noticing.

Well, *I* just refreshed to find this, so, you know, sometimes things do happen!

You have a Facebook, right? Could you have look at my profile and tell me what you can see? (you know my real surname, right? Although the search thing doesn't seem to work properly all the time anyway...)

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I did a search and couldn't find you! But I wouldn't be able to see your profile without friending you anyway, I don't think. Mine's here (hopefully that link'll work) if you want to add me. (Not if you don't want to of course, heheh). :)

[identity profile] lebannen.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's what I'm wondering, since there seem to be different security level-type things. Hmm. this is me, what can you see??

I will be happy to add you in a little while, I'm just trying to understand how the damn thing works at the moment.

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see your name, photo, and location, and the options to Send Message, Add to Friends, or View Friends. Nowt else.

[identity profile] lebannen.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I've just created a photo album, is it possible to see it without being on my flist?

[identity profile] lebannen.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I'm thinking I'm beginning to understand some things a bit. Except for the way one of my Friends can tag someone else's photo, and then I can follow a link and see that whole album without being her Friend. Pfeh. So, if you have a link, can you see this lot?

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I can see them. How odd, I didn't realise it did that.

[identity profile] lebannen.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand that there's an option (here!) to make photo albums public, which is what I have done with that one, but I don't get how it seems to be a one-way system, so that people can effectively wander into it, but if I have another album which is also public, but I don't give you a link, there is no way to get from one to the other. Bah. And there doesn't seem to b any way to make my public profile say 'look at my pictures on my LJ! Where you don't have to have an account to see stuff or comment! And there are no stupid adverts!

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, how confusing and annoying! I only really go there to play Scrabble anyway. And occasionally find unpleasant pictures of me that other people have put up and tagged. You don't get that on a nice civilised place like LJ.

I am still in bed although I mean to do housework. Needless to say, I rather think there'll be little or no housework done chez Laz today!

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh good, I feel better now. :)

[identity profile] suzilee.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I have the Willo The Wisp DVD, there's nothing wrong with that! :)

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I got competely sidetracked while doing something else entirely, and felt a sudden need to see it again! I hope it's as lovely as I remember.

[identity profile] suzilee.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! Completely lovely. But then, I do have a bit of a thing for kids DVDs, which worries the husband no end. Especially when I start watching Stoppit And Tidyup....

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahaha! Was that the one narrated by Terry Wogan, or was that something else? I've been reading the lovely Moomins today. :)

[identity profile] suzilee.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It was, indeed, narrated by Terry Wogan:) Ahh, The Moomins! Oh to be a child again....But not with the crap they are made to watch these days!

[identity profile] shira.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I need to have the Internet taken away from me, before I look up from the screen and find 20 years have passed without me noticing.

Yeah, but at least you'll still have the company of the rest of us who have let 20 years pass as well. Someone just showed me Scrablous yesterday. If I wasn't feeling like crap all day, I'd still be playing since yesterday. I suspect that's what will happen once I feel better...

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, that's true... :)

Scrabulous is really quite evil -- it is in real danger of taking over my life! Hope you feel better soon (so you can enjoy it properly).

[identity profile] purple-hazed.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmmmmm Internet dependancy, I haz it!!

You have again proved to me that I am right to not even try to work Ebay as I would end up in debtors prison, the one time my sis in law tried to help me find glittery dance shoes almost killed me!!

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
eBay is EXTREMElY DANGEROUS! Do not approach it, do not attempt to make contact with it. If you see it, call the police immediately!

[identity profile] justwolf.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
5.

I know that is going to happen to me. In fact, I think it already is.

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It already has! The year is 2028 and I am... 53!! Oh dear.

[identity profile] justwolf.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm 39. Gosh. At least we have each other! :)

OOoh, I say.

[identity profile] lugna-vatten.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I LOVE me some Willo The Wisp action. I wonder if there's a 'Noah and Nelly' boxset.

Re: OOoh, I say.

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Quick!

I don't really remember that, actually. Henry's Cat, on the other hand -- now you're talking!

[identity profile] lobelia321.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I have discovered that one can unplug the laptop. This means that power runs out. It is actually good for the laptop to run off its own steam. But to conserve power one must dim the screen and turn off airport.

This forces one to watch eps as one cannot refresh one's LiveJournal page.

Can one? What ho?

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
My wireless is indeed very easy to turn off! You just press a little button on the front. Unfortunately, it's also very easy to turn on. You just press a little button on the front.

[identity profile] natika.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed, what the hell?! How can you live without owning the Willo the Wisp DVD! This must be rectified!

PS Am going to friend you on facebook, if that's ok, since I too am scrabulous-addicted.

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, facebook friends! :)

[identity profile] llaras.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Please help me. I need to have the Internet taken away from me, before I look up from the screen and find 20 years have passed without me noticing.

Please share if anyone comes up with an answer...

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
If a cure is found, I will release you all from this cruel imprisonment!
