Dear people in this room discussing Andy Murray,

Whyfor all the slagging? I know the poor dear's not exactly a ray of sunshine, but he did make it to a grand slam final. That is actually quite good for a British tennis player. Now do stop moaning.

Yours,
Irritated of Ipswich

I am starved of tennis discussing!

I get really annoyed sometimes by this horrible negative attitude - he got to the final of a Grand Slam. He was beaten by one of the best players in the world playing at his best. He beat the world no. 1 to get to the final. This is brilliant!!! All this moaning is like complaining about someone who wona gold medal in the Olympics but didn't beat the world record. Clearly, if Andy Murray doesn't win every single tournament in the world for the next ten years and beats every record going, he is shit.

I, personally, like the fact that he is a dour, bloody-minded Scot. :)

I KNOW!!! I seriously don't get it! I couldn't believe how miserable everyone was being when I came in this morning. Does nobody remember the Henman years???

I, personally, like the fact that he is a dour, bloody-minded Scot. :)

Me too! :)

People are complaining over there? My gosh, you would think they'd be thrilled! I thought it was a spectacular accomplishment to get to the finals of the US Open by beating the #1 ranked player.

argh...

It might just be the miserable people I work with - they were being pretty positive on the radio this morning. I think he's done fantastically well!

British sports reportage and UK sports talk in general could use an immersion course in fangirling.

Recover the Squee!

Imagine it.

No, I can't either.

Hahaha. No, perhaps not... I sit near the sports desk at work, and they seem to have real trouble talking in anything other than a monotone.

Really, why be miserable over one's national player getting to the final of the US OPEN for pete's sake! They were quite excited on the radio last night, in tone if not in complements for Murray...

It's funny that nobody likes him, I haven't formed an opinion but if he is as miserable and unfriendly as he sounds, I would probably LOVE him!!
