Christmas story number two!

Right, this one's just because we sang Winter Wonderland in our Christmas concert this year, and it got stuck in my head for weeks, and I had to write something to try to expunge it from my brain.

Title: Winterland
Fandom: Winter Wonderland (Song)
Warnings: Peril, Dystopia, Parson Brown

Winterland

I've written two Yuletide treats, too! Just about to sekritly post the last one to the archive. Something to look forward to on Christmas Day. :)

Yes! Yesyesyes. I will read *all* of yuletide just so that I can come across your nuggets. Will I recognise them instantly?

This is a cheering thought: if I download *all* yuletide fics, I shall have enough reading matter for much of my family holiday in Holland?

If you download all of Yuletide, you'll probably be covered till *next* Christmas! :)

I imagine both of mine will be recognisable once you actuallly read them - but actually finding them might be trickier! Well, one of them, anyway... I shall say no more. ;)

Finding them: the research I will do! Delving back into the LJ threads...

But I note that you apparently did not request a Farmtide fic? There isn't one 'to sheldrake'.

Next year I will participate in this!!! I will!!!!

Some fandoms are not there. This must be rectified. omg I just found Withnail & I fic... This is a way also to discover new canons - so many stuffs!

No, I didn't actually sign up to participate - these days I can't really handle the stress at this time of year. But the great thing about Yuletide is that you can write 'treats' even if you're not signed up - so you can look through all the fandoms requested, see what people have asked for and see if something catches your eye - then you can just write them an extra story on top of their 'real' one and add it to the collection! I've never done it before, but I'm so glad I did! And then you get to read all the other stories anyway. :)

Before Yuletide starts there's a period where people can nominate fandoms, and they may not get through - they have to be small and rare enough. And even if they get through, if they're not both offered and requested then obviously they won't make the grade either. But yes - it's a great way to read stuff you'd never even have thought of otherwise!

I could read what you write all day every day - a wee bit of magic in each one.

Before I even feedback this story, I must do a quick interim fly-by feedback for your Historical Farm fic wot I also downloaded from A03 last night and am now most smitten with. It made me go and look for youtube vids (I realise I had looked at some of these years ago, when you first tumblrised this fandom but that was pre-fic) and I also had the dawning realisation that I had got the men mixed up: I looked at pics last night and then as I was reading, I pictured the long-faced one as Peter and the tubby one as Alex but now I see THAT I GOT IT THE WRONG WAY ROUND so will have to re-read everything as the dynamic changes totally. I also saw goat-milking fail and *stared*.

And oh, the *bed scene*. Woman.

Also the gorse bushes. I don't even know what they are but the very word conjures up aeons of landscape description.

How is this fandom not bigger? I adore Peter Ginn. (And your fic. I adore your fic. All three of your fics.)

More anon. Must now go to Sainsbury's to buy whipped cream.

Thank you soooooo much - this feedback is a lovely Christmas present! :D

I must leave for the family abode soon, but just wanted to thank you - also to say how right you are to adore Peter - I've been watching him in Secrets of the Castle (should still be some eps available on iPlayer), and have been reminded anew of his amazingness. :)

It's such a treat every time you write something! Both of these were fantastic--the first is so sweet and the second so unsettling.
