Cookery Book Shock!

Back from the 18th Century, only to discover that my mother has thrown away not only my Covent Garden Soup book, but my two copies of Mrs Beeton, both of which were presents, and one of which was lovingly inscribed with the lyrics to The Golden Girls theme tune. Serves me right for leaving them there, I suppose. "I didn't realise they were yours," she said. "I thought they got there by themselves."

*fumes silently*

*goes back the 18th Century*

Edit: Apparently she only thought she'd thrown them away. They are safe. *calms down*

oh gosh I'd freak if anything happened to my Mrs. Beeton's (facsimile). What on earth would you do if you had to cook a pig's head at short notice?

the internet, I guess.

Luckily it was just my mum being mad. But you're right - Beeton is indispensible for those pig-head banquet emergencies.
