Should I:

a) Do the washing up, or
b) ignore it?

I am currently reading about Buddhism as a practical approach to life rather than a religion. How does washing up fit in with dharma? I think perhaps I should accept the washing up as a cause of suffering, and then let it go... by going into another room and watching telly.

That's all wrong, isn't it? :(

Ok, everyone. It's Friday night, and as you all know, Friday night is the best night to get things done. So, tonight, I'll be getting some things done. At the end of the night, you can all ask me what, exactly, I've got done, and if I haven't got anything done after all, you can kill me with sticks.

I'm going off to get some things done now. Bye!

Look, I'm going to sleep now. Here we go look, cloooosing the laptop lid. Nearly closed. Yep. Turning it off now. Definitely. Going. To. Bed.

Now.

Ok, now.

No, really this time.

Goodnight.

Going now.

You know, sometimes I think of myself lying on my deathbed and thinking, "Right so that was my life. What have I actually done with it? Well ... I seem to have spent the vast majority of it reading my Friends List..."

That's not right, is it? Ok, so I need to get rid of all the silly, pointless communities and feeds I added purely to entertain me when I'm bored at work. Thing number one. Thing number two: er... I dunno. Help, LJ is an evil trap! :(

And I'm sorry if I missed your birthday or haven't answered your comment yet. *grovels*

Went to see my mum yesterday. I spent some time hoovering vast swathes of cobwebs off the floor, ceilings and walls, as this apparently been done since my visit last Christmas. I gave her Jeffrey Eugenides' Middlesex for her birthday and she really enjoyed it. It enabled her to bond with another vicar who also happened to be reading it, and they discussed the idea of suggesting hermaphrodites for congregations who don't approved of women priests. Good old C of E.

*panics*

Where is the day going? It seems to have been sucked into LiveJournal! Oh bum.

Whilst doing research for my Yuletide fic (which comes along somewhat haltingly) I came across a reference to my grandfather, who died several decades before I was born and has absolutely nothing to do with the fandom concerned (mind you, neither did the research, really). The sheer oddness of this incident has conveniently allowed me to procrastinate for another few hours, as my research goes ever more alarmingly off course.

I am having a baked potato for lunch, yesyes.

S'pose I'd better write something, eh?

I'm thinking of buying a breadmaker. For making bread in, you know.

I do rather wish I'd stayed up to watch the Oscars last night. I'd say it was nice to be slightly awake today, but as I've spent the entire day procrastinating for England, I feel as though I may as well have been asleep. Still, highlights are on later.

The Windowsill of Kitsch is getting out of hand. [livejournal.com profile] galactic_jack and [livejournal.com profile] dandywalker are currently at loggerheads over which of their seperately-purchased cereal box toys is the kitschest. The wobbly moose with intriguing skin disease? Or the alien with the slidey mono-eye? There's also a pair of tiny plastic shoes on a string. I fear it will all end in tears.

I enjoyed Neil Gaiman on The King and I today. Haha, he said Mary Sue! And, incidentally, linked to this rather interesting post on the Mary S phenomenon here. You can sort of see how the procrastination progressed, can't you?

Some pimpage:

[livejournal.com profile] troy_rps, yo! Come on, get going now and you could be a BNF by teatime!

Also, it's Self Injury Awareness Day today. Some links for anyone who might find them helpful, gacked from [livejournal.com profile] foreverdirt:

Why is it half past four?

Why have I spent all afternoon reading the worst fic I could find anywhere on the whole of the Internet?

Why do I think I can write 50,000 words in a month when it's taken me nearly that to write two and a half thousand, mainly about two people sitting on a sofa?

Why does my story for that two lines challenge thingy read like a nine year old's homework?

And not even their English homework?

Why have I not done any of the things on my list of things to do?

I had a mental list of interesting things to write about in here, but I can't remember what they all were now. The main points being:

1. There is a large pile of washing up downstairs. It scares me. I feel I should probably leave it to its own devices for a bit, see what happens.

2. I seen Ned Kelly the other night, wheeee! Oh, and then I went back and reread [livejournal.com profile] lobelia321's amazing "History" and [livejournal.com profile] eyebrowofdoom's completely lovely "Beasts".

3. My monitor's doing weird things. I fear it may die.

4. I might make icons today, as I've seen rather a lot of this duck lately.
