I went to Cambridge last night to see The Magnetic Fields, and they were both fabulous and spellbinding. The support band was called The Real Tuesday Weld, and they were clarinet-crazy! Always nice to see a good clarinetist, I think. Look, I've put some download links up here, in the new [livejournal.com profile] u_send_it community.

I met a dog today.

I thought I had more to say than that, and maybe I do, but I can't really muster up the energy.

BUT! I have days off! AND! I got paid today and bought BOOKS! AND! That's it.

Hello, um, everyone. I can almost feel the words echoing back around the vast, empty hall that is LJ when I post at the weekend. Anyway.

I have survived a week at my new job! It's cool. Everyone's very nice and I think it's going to be good once I've stopped stressing out every five minutes. I have gone from a constant flow of vaguely disguised farm machinery adverts to actual real articles about real things. We mostly work on magazines for posh people in the Home Counties, so lots of property pages and charity fashion shows and stuff. Some nice photos of the Great Crested Grebe yesterday, you'll be pleased to know.

Today I feel I must add some Beatles and some Black Box Recorder to my swelling mp3 library that is iTunes.

Also today ... I'm going to meet [livejournal.com profile] gabbyhope!!! How exciting is that??!! :)

The dentist congratulated me on the state of my teeth and told me to eat more sweets. I celebrated by buying a bunch of magazines. I am also an interesting specimen, as I have apparently retained four of my baby teeth.

I thought some of you might like to know what Daniel Radcliffe has on his iPod.

Er. If you should happen to find yourself no longer on my friends list, um, sorry. It's not because I think you're horrible or anything, it just got to the point where I was so desperate to get to the bottom of the page, I wasn't actually reading anyone's posts. So, I kind of went through it with a strimmer. Don't take it personally.

Hm. I thought my copy of Belle & Sebastian's 'Boy with the Arab Strap' album had magically got all better after being fucked up by being left on the floor for a long time. But it has just proved me wrong in the middle of Seymour Stein. Ah well.

Saw Kill Bill last night. I loved it! Wow. And I've never been the biggest Tarantino fan in the world. Lot of blood though. Lot of blood.

You may get the idea from this post that I haven't done anything of great value recently. And you would be right.

I have now seen roughly two and a half episodes of The Sentinel. I feel I have broken the boredom barrier and developed something like a smidgen of affection for the characters, and I think I am now qualified to read the fic. Any recs, anywhere, anyhow, anyone?

So, yes. Cable TV is my new toy. I have had much amusement recently playing such games as 'Make fun of the weirdos on the dating channel' and 'Create the ultimate 24 hour Justin Timberlake experience via judicious channel switching'. It's all good clean fun, and prevents me from thinking about things I ought to be doing, such as setting up standing orders and telling people I've moved house. I have also become mildly obsessed with The Darkness and their fantastic video with the horse and the spaceship and the shiny skintight all-in-one trouser-suit.

In other news, I appear to have been nominated for them there Award Thingies. (I call them that so you'll think I'm above such things and in fact hadn't even heard of them before and wasn't feeling mildly put out at the thought of being left out and certainly didn't jump up and down and go 'Woo' when I got the email). No, is quite exciting. Whoever it was that nominated me, you are lovely!

Also, I've just realised I live in California! California, Ipswich. How cool is that? I'm going to put it on my address. It has the California Social Club and everything!

-- The nurse was very, very lovely and did not hurt me in any way.
-- I wish Sean Bean did voice-overs for all the adverts.
-- Everything's suddenly stopped working around here! My bloody phone won't let me delete any old messages, so how is anyone supposed to text me, hmm?
