I should so be asleep. But I'm busy punishing myself for spoiling [livejournal.com profile] rochefort for Brokeback Mountain. Bizarrely, this punishment is currently taking the form of doing that trivia meme and pretending it's really all about SGA.

Ten Top Trivia Tips about Rodney!

  1. Koalas sleep for 22 hours a day, two hours more than Rodney.

  2. Plato believed that the souls of melancholy people would be reincarnated into Rodney.

  3. Half a cup of Rodney contains only seventeen calories.

  4. 68 percent of all UFO sightings are by Rodney!

  5. Scientists have discovered that Rodney can smell the presence of autism in children!

  6. The porpoise is second to Rodney as the most intelligent animal on the planet.

  7. Rodney can run sixty-five kilometres an hour - that's really fast!

  8. Only fifty-five percent of men wash their hands after using Rodney!

  9. Rodney can be seen from space.

  10. American Airlines saved forty thousand dollars a year by eliminating Rodney from each salad served in first class!

I am interested in - do tell me about

In other news, I'm trying to teach myself Latin, because you never know when you're going to be transported back to Ancient Rome and have to ask for a double room with a nice view. These sorts of things happen more often than you think!

And having proved that I can't even construct sentences in my own language, let alone anyone else's, I shall now think about going to bed.

SHOCKING NEWS!

ahem. Every couple of months I decide I should learn Latin (and then don't get round to it)! I have at least one Cambridge Latin book left over from doing the GCSE. But the way I only really remember the words ancilla and atruim suggests that it may be a slow start.

Yes, I was shocked.

I wanted to do GCSE Latin, but it clashed with art. So far, it seems to be a bit like doing an incredibly difficult jigsaw puzzle, but with all the pieces in your head instead of on the table.

Did you like Brokeback?

I did. I had no problems with the adaptation at all, but then it's been a long time since I read the story, which I liked, but I don't think I had as much invested emotionally in it as you perhaps did. I remember feeling quite distanced from it. So I came to the film without too many expectations, I suppose.

Oh dear - bad sentence-constructing! I haven't had enough sleep this week...

Just in case I end up in Ancient Rome next week, how do you ask for a double room with a nice view in Latin?

I'll er... get back to you on that one. My driving instructor has already requested that I learn how to say 'turn in the road'...

Be careful with that Latin, easy to get addicted.
