Stones with holes in. People used to hang them over stable doors to ward off bad luck. I found these on Dungeness beach last weekend. :)

How'd they end up on the beach? People threw them out when they decided they didn't work? How can there be so many of them lying about now? That's quite a number of them for a single weekend's collecting.

The holes are natural, made by t'sea. On reflection, my explanation may have been slightly misleading...
