Just wanted to rec [livejournal.com profile] beizy's rather impressive request ficcage post. It's inspiring, is what it it is!

Watched a very strange programme tonight, which seemed to be based on the premise that: 'things happened in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Things happened throughout history too. Some of these things are bound to be similar. Let's find them and make a documentary!'

Since I was snowed in yesterday, I spent a lot of time watching The Two Towers DVD extras. One of which was a documentary about JRR Tolkien, and that he pulled from his experiences in World War 1 and his knowledge of language, and Anglo Saxon/Nordic history to write LOTR. I wonder if your documentary was about the same thing!

It did talk about WW1, which I might have expected. The other stuff was like, 'At Helm's Deep they, like, have a battle. There was also a battle at Agincourt ... Frodo and Sam were two people climbing a mountain. Another two people who climbed a mountain were Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tensing..."

(Probably spelt everything wrong in this reply, but you'll forgive me won't you?)
