Christmas card from
shrinetolust!!! Thank you, lovely! :)
I am tired of the winter. It goes on too long.
pepysdiary went to the pub last night and "had a very fine dinner, good musique, and a great deal of wine. We staid here very late, at last Sir W. Pen and I home together, he so overcome with wine that he could hardly go; I was forced to lead him through the streets and he was in a very merry and kind mood."
I'm sorry, the novelty will wear off soon.
Trying to do my DiR Christmas fic, but is slooooow. May end up being an after-Christmas fic, which ought to work all right.
They did not make us play games at our work Christmas dinner, I am pleased to report. They just put packs of party poppers and modelling balloons on the tables, so the forced jollity was at least bearable. At least I appeared to be at the non-racist end of the table this year. Posh-ish country hotel, food average to good. Ish. We had crackers, too. In mine, I got the usual weak joke, plus something the Yorkshire Ripper said at his trial. S got a small false Hitler-style moustache. How seasonal. I mean ... wtf?

What is it with Christmas party festivities?? At my work party a couple years ago they wanted us to take pictures of one another with one of those insta-sticker cams, and then affix the pics to a cardboard Christmas tree, adding captions in cartoon bubbles. That is the point when I said, "Oh, have a party to plan, must go, thank you muchly!!" Of course I couldn't quite escape until they'd taken a highly unflattering photo of me so I didn't get out fast enough...argh!! Non-racist end of the table is good...that same year the boss and I ended up at the non-English speaking end of the table. Made things rather interesting! :P
Hope you have a very Merry Christmas, dearest...and would you mind contemplating over the holiday if you could do another beta for me? It's a VigOrli (*gasps heard round the world*)--but it's a sequel to the last VigBeanie you did for me--More or Less. Orli was only supposed to appear for a couple of pages, and well, I'm on pg.25 right now and he's still there..so it appears there is going to have to be a part III now, where Sean reappears...that is if Orli lets him. :P
xxooo

Sure, I'd be happy to help - send me the goods whenever. :) (I will endeavour not to be my usual tardy self...)

And "Minion of Evil" themed crackers. An interesting concept.

Pepys
And then that links to my other obsession from that era - Charles II. God I went wild over this king, read everything I could about him and used to draw portraits of his ugly face.
Compared to that my obsession with Izzard is fairly normal. Oh and you asked why I worried about my fan obsession, well, it just seems like such a strange focus of energy and passion, to focus on some remote figure, rather than people or causes close to one's life. But I guess that's the point of fandom. The further away it is from one's real life, the better the dream.
But I do think that the people who really get somewhere in life are those that put all that energy and passion into their own life goals. Look at Eddie, he just seems to steam along. barreling through any obstacles in his path. Of course that probably makes him a ruthless bastard but hey, an attractive ruthless bastard, eh?
That's the secret, to be attractive in your ruthlessness, then all is forgiven.
All right, enough of my gobbing on.
Merry Christmas!
Re: Pepys
Pepys is addictive, isn't he? I currently seem to be stuck in this 17th Century obsessive thing - it's quite odd...

Hmm, yeah. I've been dwelling on this a fair bit lately, although I appear to have no coherent thoughts just at the moment. I do worry, because I have a tendency just retreat inside my own head and live there, and the fan thing kind of feeds that, for me. But ... it's also meant that I've met people I wouldn't otherwise, who've made my (real) life richer and more interesting. Balance is the key, I suppose.

Agreed. Self-belief, self-discipline, all stuff I'm not very good at. :) Not enough of a driven boy scout, I'm afraid. *g*

Too true... Merry Christmas to you too. *looks at clock* Should be still going on where you are.
