I'm sorry, i can't type properly on this tiny keyboard. i'm sticking to lower case because trying to negotiate the shift key just prolongs the torture.

anyway, thought you might like to know i've cheered up now, which is nice. sitting at my mum's house, looking after the dinner while she does the christmas morning service. her kitchen is like a barren wasteland. three million types of tea and half a wooden spoon. the garden is full of blue tits, flitting around the feeders hanging on the old eucalyptus. a grey day, the odd patch of snow still here and there. listening to woman's hour.

have a lovely day, everyone. :)

Oh noes, I can't remember how being online works! What is this strange digital world in which I find myself?

:O

This year I am going to get things done.

So far I have updated Twitter and Facebook telling everyone about how I've descaled the kettle. I didn't want you to be left out, LJ. Actually, I'm now descaling the kettle again, because the first one wasn't enough. Descaler is kind of a new experience for the kettle, it's taking some time to get used to it.

That piece of information was an exclusive, flist. Facebook and Twitter didn't even get that one. You don't have to thank me.

So, and yes. The other thing. When I removed my desktop computer, I suddenly had these obsolete sliding keyboard and mouse compartments on my desk. It has come to my notice that these spaces have somehow become clogged up with bank statements, correspondence, payslips, cds, manuals and other detritus. I have no idea how this happened, but I assume it was a similar process to that which led to me having a cup of limescale tea every morning. Anyway, I'm going in. With a pickaxe. And I'm telling you all about it, which is totally justified and definitely not any form of procrastination or distraction. Wish me luck!

ps. We can has new Doctor this afternoon. OMG!

Typing this on the new laptop, oh he is big and lovely. He is my boyfriend now. Haven't quite got used to this huge keyboard yet though, and keep doing unexpected keyboard shortcuts. It's like Alice -- The Laptop Years.

Hmm... went carol singing this morn, we squashed in around the Christmas tree at the Tourist Information centre and poked each other with our regulation black folders. Nobody attacked us, that was good.

Unfortunately I seem to be in the middle of a period in which I am struck afresh with self-loathing each time I move, speak, or indeed breathe. I appall myself on a hourly basis. I also look quite awful. I would like to stay indoors and wait for this nonsense to pass, but sadly no such option exists.

Help, people! Does this text look all weird and double spaced to you? It just started happening when I was typing in Twitter, mid way through a sentence. Seems to be a Firefox thing. I do not understand!

Also, the light has gone in my fridge. I think I’m jinxed.

I'm pretty well cheered up now and have stopped musing on the likelihood of my existence being the cause of all evil and misery in this blasted universe. [livejournal.com profile] dandywalker has kindly helped me with my shelves, and also taken lappy to the computer doctor. Turns out that lappy's motherboard is dead, although his hard drive lives on -- oh damn, now I have to buy a shiny new lappy that closes properly. What an awful hardship.

:)

So, laptop owning folk -- any suggestions/warnings/advice/protestations of the divine love that can exist between human and machine? If the latter -- yeah, I'm afraid it's probably not going to be a mac, but feel free to attempt to convince me otherwise. ;)

At the moment I'm thinking Dell's Studio range looks quite fun, and good value, and comes in different colours yay. There's the Medion Akoya S5610, good value but boring, and the ThinkPad - reliable but boring, and some other things that are too expensive.

Basically what I'm looking for is something that is fast, light...ish, good for watching nefariously acquired tv shows, beautiful, and cheap. Ish. Ok, it doesn't have to be that cheap. Just perfect in every way.

I am going now, because, oh my darling eee, your keys are so incredibly small.

Thanks for the nice messages, my friends. :)

I did cheer up beautifully after i was taken in by kind people and fed cottage pie.

Unfortunately, today my laptop died and then I discovered that it is not really possible to put together an ikea expedit bookcase on your own after all, so perhaps I should have believed the instructions. Also, having a half put together bookcase cluttering up the kitchen is worse than a not put together one. Especially when all the stuff you moved out of the way is also cluttering up the kitchen. And you can't even ignore it and catch up on your nice US telly things because your laptop is dead. Also, you can't type properly on your delightful eee pc which you are of course grateful to have pleasedon'tdieonmetookthxbai.

So, you know, the theme continues somewhat. :(

I have bought myself an eee PC as a reward for getting out of bed every morning and it arrived today. So little! So exciting! :D

And commiserations to all my friends in the SGA camp. That sucks. :(

*has nothing else interesting to say*

Well. I've now got Internet Explorer to work in a wonky and wrongheaded fashion (more than usual, I mean), but there's obviously quite a lot not right with mr computer at the mo and it is somewhat tiring, so I might take a bit of a break from trying to beat him into submission. I think it's something to to with internet explorer script errors, although whether that's anything to do with the Firefox debacle is anyone's guess. I shall just have to pray for the magic computer fixing fairy to come in the night.

Until we meet again, flist, I love you all madly with the force of a thousand burning suns, and will be lurking in the background, muttering softly into my tea.

argh! computer crashed, now firefox won't load, won't reinstall properly, just freezes every time I open it. IE refuses to run properly and anyway is crap. And if I go to the Firefox page to try and download it again, there is no bloody download button! Look, I can't do computer stuff, ok!

*cries*
